Paul Kevin Sears

WAYCROSS — Paul Kevin Sears, 58, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at his home following a courageous effort to overcome cancer.

He was born on March 29, 1964, in Homerville to Oscar Sears Jr. and Rena Mae Joyner.

The springtime of his life was spent exploring his family farmland in Millwood. Afterwards, his story continued in Ware County where he would go on to be a part of the 1982 Ware County High School alumni. The years of his adulthood were spent knowing the outdoors, much as he did in his youth. River and farm living were still a constant in his everyday affairs — an example of this being his highly-beloved and very-well-cared-for tomato plants.

It was his love for music and the arts, however, that gave him the most fulfillment. Paul was well-known among many musical acts in Waycross and surrounding areas — his talent with a guitar earning him countless new friends.

As the pages of his life turned, he found an abundance of joy among the Great Smoky Mountains, escaping to their foothills whenever time would allow. Although Paul could not be fully healed here on earth, we are certain the Lord has removed from him all pain. He will truly be missed.

He was preceeded in death by his father, Oscar Sears Jr. as well as his brother, Oscar Sears III.

He is survived by his daughter, Erica Sears Fullard (husband Andrew) of Waycross, and his son Kevin Sears of Waycross; his mother, Rena Mae Joyner of Millwood; his brother Tommy Sears (wife Sabrina) of Millwood; and his sister Angel Sears Murray (husband George) also of Millwood; his grand-daughter, Gracie Clark; his long-time friend and mother of his children, Laura Sears; Norma Jean Carmichael, whom in her he found a wonderful confidante, a close friend and a strong companion; and his numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Paul’s favorite organization, St. Jude Children’s Hospital (stjude.org) or to Hospice Satilla (www.hospicesatilla.com), who saw us through this arduous time.

A graveside service was held at noon Friday, September 2 at Telmore Cemetery. The family received friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Music Funeral Home.

Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.musicfuneralhome.com.

Music Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
