Shots Fired In Nahunta

NAHUNTA – A man who fired a shot into the air in a residential area inside the Nahunta City Limits Monday was arrested and booked into the Brantley County jail on several charges including Aggravated Assault.

Rico Glover, thought to be in his early to mid-20s, was involved in an altercation with Lovel Williams. The incident stemmed from a “previous beef,” said Nahunta Police Chief Darin Jennings.

Glover was charged with Aggravated Assault, third degree Child Endangerment, Disorderly Conduct and Discharge of a Firearm near a Roadway, stated Jennings.

Glover was accused of hitting the victim in the head with a 9mm pistol, which he then fired into the air and left, the chief said.

“We picked him up a short distance from where it took place, in Burton Terrace,” said Jennings. “He was taken into custody without incident.”

Jennings said Brantley County Sheriff Len Davis and Deputy Mark Stone responded to assist with the event which occurred at 2:39 p.m.

“He is now in the jail awaiting for his warrants to be served,” said Jennings. “He will go for a first appearance before a magistrate in three days.”

Jennings said he was thankful nobody was hit by the fired shot. Williams was provided with medical attention following the fight.
