Two Brantley County men were arrested and charged following an incident Saturday afternoon.
Austin James Miller of Nahunta and Perry Bryant Smith of Hortense were apprehended near Howard Street at 7:15 p.m., October 1.
“They were out and shot up a stop sign,” said Brantley County Sheriff Len Davis. “A couple of the bullets struck a residence. Luckily nobody was injured.”
The sheriff said when the vehicle was stopped, law enforcement found the stop sign inside.
“They had the evidence so they were charged with Theft by Taking along with several other charges,” said Davis.
Miller is also facing charges of Reckless Conduct, DUI - Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Speeding in Excess of Maximum Limits (State Speed and Zone Limits), and Discharge of Firearm On/Near Public Highway.
No bond has been set.
Smith was charged with Party to a Crime. He has bonded out of the Brantley County Jail.
