Frances Harris Jacobs, 96, a lifelong resident of Blackshear, passed away quietly Thursday morning, October 13, 2022, following a brief stay at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross.
She was born June 3, 1926, in Blackshear, to the late Joseph and Carrie Harris. She was a caring sister to Lewis Coleman Harris, Beulah Harris Robertson, Joseph “TB” Harris, Earl “Doc” Harris and younger brother Roy Harris—all who preceded her in death.
As a young girl, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church, where she would remain a faithful member until she was called to be with her Lord.
She married Cleophus Julius Jacobs (1919-2003) in 1943. He was a World War II serviceman. Their union would span 60-years. Together, Frances and Teady, as Cleophus was affectionately known, raised seven children—Carrie Hawkins, Connie (Allen) Jenkins, Minnie (William) Reid, CJ (Vivian) Jacobs, Deborah (Bobby) Taylor, Beulah (Earl) Evans and Terrell (Angela) Jacobs. Blessed with a long, rich life, she was grandmother to 14, great-grandmother to 13, and great-great grandmother to one. She was also a loving aunt, cousin and friend to countless others.
A celebration of her life and enduring legacy will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 22, from the Church of Christ Written in Heaven, 617 Blackwell Street, Waycross.
Southview Mortuary of Waycross is in charge of arrangements.
