Barney Clinton Wood, 77, of Blackshear, passed away Friday afternoon, February 2, 2024, at Hospice Savannah in Savannah.
Born in Aiken, SC February 3, 1946, he lived in Waycross prior to moving to Pierce County in 1992. He had owned and operated a gas station in Hortense before going to work for Jiffy Convenient Stores as a district manager. He spent the past few years being a salesman for Watkins. He was a big fan of yard sales and was always on the lookout for “treasures”. He loved classic cars and traveling and was a former member of the Woodmen of the World. He attended Youmans Chapel Baptist Church but enjoyed visiting other churches with family.
He was the son of the late Barney Wood and Sarah Ginn Herndon. He was also preceded in death by his beloved sister, Idell Crews.
Survivors include his children, Pamela (Richard) Henson and Clinton “Bo” Wood, both of Jesup and Barney C. “Bubba” Wood Jr., Blackshear; four grandchildren, Amber Clements, Charlie Wood, Stacie (Zachary) Meeks and Clinton Wood Jr.; three great-grandchildren; two nieces, Janice (Jeff) O’Quinn, Hoboken and Tonya Michael, Blackshear and several other relatives.
The family will have a celebration of life service at a later date.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
