The Pierce County Bears football team (5-1 overall, 1-1 Region 3-AA) is ranked fifth in the state by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution coming off a bye week and will host the Toombs County Bulldogs Friday, October 14. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. in Bearville.
The match-up with Toombs County is a region game and will be the eighth regular season meeting between the two programs dating back to November 1, 1996. The Bears hold a 4-3 advantage in the series having won the last three meetings. The last match-up was played October 16, 2016, a 41-20 win for the Bears.
Toombs County is currently 4-3 on the 2022 season after defeating Long County 21-0 August 19, winning against Wheeler County 21-0 August 26, losing to Jefferson County 22-20 September 9, beating Treutlen 43-0 September 16, defeating Tattnall County 31-29 September 23, falling to Brantley County 30-15 September 28 and losing to Appling County 34-21 October 7.
