Edward Ernest Turk, 98, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 20, 2024, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Born November 8, 1925, in Hopelawn, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Joseph and Ethel Zoldie Turk. He lived many years in New Jersey before moving to Blackshear with his wife in the early 1980s. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army and was retired from Ford Motor Company. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waycross.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Turk; two brothers, Dr. Robert Turk and Paul Turk and three sisters, Margaret Leone, Ethel Tobias and Helen Doyle.
Survivors include his wife of 77 years, Marie Joyce Turk, Blackshear; a son, Dr. Eric Turk, Townsend, Montana; a daughter-in-law, Gail Turk, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; two grandsons, Michael Turk of California and Joseph Turk, Virginia Beach, VA; two great-granddaughters, Sophie Turk and Zoey Turk; a sister, Madaline Jordan of New Jersey; a brother, Joseph Turk of New Jersey and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorialization will be by cremation. Inurnment will take place at Jacksonville National Cemetery at a future date.
