Susie Jean Russ Sapp, 70, of Patterson, passed away Sunday evening, February 11, 2024, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross, following a short illness.
Born February 27, 1953, in Waycross, she was a daughter of the late James Robert and Imogene Thomas Russ. Living all her life in Pierce County, she was a 1971 graduate of Patterson High School. She was a longtime office secretary at Pierce County High School, retiring in 2016, and she was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a husband, Mickey Dixon; son-in-law, Cameron Lee; a sister-in-law, Linda Watkins and a brother-in-law, Eddie Teston.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Sapp, Patterson; three children, Lisa Lee, Mershon and Ken Dixon (wife Tara) and Larry Sapp, all of Patterson; seven grandchildren, Logan Lee, Mershon, Morgan Dampier (husband Trevor), Alma, Lauren Gilliard (husband Grant), Nicholls, Mickey Dixon and Lizzie Dixon, both of Patterson, and Anna Smart (husband Tristen) and Emily Sapp (husband Lane), both of Blackshear; four great-grandchildren, Ava Bryson, Hayger Bryson, Kash Gilliard and Rory Gilliard; cousin, Sammy and Carol Herrin of Virginia; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Margaret Sapp, Richmond Hill, Wanda and Shelton Rigdon, Bristol, Carol and Donnie Watkins, Mershon and Bonnie and Bud Thornton and Anita Teston, all of Patterson, Dexter Sapp, Blackshear, May and Ray Douberly, Patterson, W.T. and Susan Sapp, Blackshear, JoAnna and Timmy White, Patterson and Jerry Watkins, Mershon and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the funeral home.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, from the Offerman Cemetery with the Rev. Edward Colley officiating.
