Alla Mae ‘Sally’ Knight Pearson

Alla Mae “Sally” Knight Pearson, 89, of Hoboken, passed away Sunday morning, January 21, 2024, at her residence.

Born in Ft. Meade, FL July 20, 1934, she lived in Brantley County most of her life. She worked at the King Edward Cigar Factory prior to going to work at the Okefenokee Cap Factory where she retired as a supervisor.  In the 1990s, she owned and operated Pearson’s Fried Chicken in Hoboken. She loved to be outside working in her flower beds or garden and enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables.  She enjoyed reading her Bible, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.  She was a member of the former Hoboken Church of God.

She was a daughter of the late Jesse J. and Lillie Tindall Knight. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Erney Keith Pearson Sr.; a daughter, Lillie Pearson; a son-in-law, Ronnie Spradley; two grandchildren, Terra Rue and Robin Turner; two great- grandchildren, Fischer Howard and Piper Jacobs and all of her sisters and brothers, Helen Emmick, Dorothy Allison, Mildred McLemore, Erma Knight, Sugar Baby, Arnold Knight, Jim Knight, Ernest Knight and Jesse Knight.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Spradley and Dottie (David) Jacobs, all of Hoboken; two sons, Kenny (Linda) Pearson, Waycross and Everett (Marlene) Pearson, Hoboken; a special daughter, Sherri Mercier, Boyce, LA; a brother-in-law, David Pearson, San Antonio, TX; nine grandchildren, Trey (Laura) Pearson, Waycross, Ashlee (Brent) Land, Griffin, Priscilla (Cole) Walsh, Blackshear, Marla (Luke) Johns, Nahunta, Lisa (Larry) Fales,  and Mark (Elizabeth) Spradley, both of Axson, Janet (Ed) Bennett, Homerville, Tamra Turner, Waycross and Tony Jacobs, Nahunta; 16 great-grandchildren, Rian Pearson, Alishia Pearson, Josiah Pearson, Griffin Walsh, Lillie Land, Jennifer (Tyler) Howard, Logan (Sara) Fales, Wesley Spradley, Trevor (Sara) Spradley, Heather Bennett, Zach Bennett, Austin Roundtree, Braiden Rue, Brentley Turner, Cullen Jacobs and Journey Jacobs; two great-great-grandchildren, Fletcher Howard and Kolston Fales and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will be in the Raulerson Cemetery.
