The Rev. Wayne Harrison Hutchinson, 85, died Saturday morning, May 4, 2024, at Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross.
He was born June 21, 1938 in Miami, FL to the late Jake P. Hutchinson and Ruby Barnes Hutchinson. The Rev. Hutchinson was formerly employed by Nabisco and Luther Rice Seminary. He retired as a minister from the Southern Baptist Association having served at many churches during his career. The last church he served at was Walkerville Baptist Church in Blackshear and he was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and researching genealogy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Louise Wood Hutchinson (married July 26, 1957); his son, Steven W. Hutchinson; sister, Patricia Merle Sorrells and brother-in-law, Thomas E. Sorrells.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Howell Hutchinson (married November 5, 2005), Blackshear; two daughters, Elizabeth A. Kight (Allen), Granger, IN and Linda S. Carver (Steve), Douglas; step-daughter, Stephanie Murray (Terry), Blackshear; step-son, Kelly, Blackshear; daughter-in-law, Melody Hutchinson Nicks, Newport, TN; grandchildren, Cameron Brannen, Baxley, Zachary Kight (Gabriella), Emily Kight and Zane Kight, all of Granger, IN, Tyler Murray (Caroline), Mershon, Tiffany Ross (Morgan), Blackshear, Ashton Crawford (Hillaree), Blackshear, Kellyn Carter (Chris), Blackshear, Tyler Howard (Jennifer), Columbia, SC, and Dylan Howard, Blackshear; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Arthur Neil Hutchinson (Doris) of Florida and fishing buddy, Ed Chaney.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Friday, May 10, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, from the Music Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Ware County.
All ministers in attendance are requested to serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, GA 31501.
