Mary Viomi Lucero Herrin, 85, of Rome, (formerly of Blackshear), passed away Thursday afternoon, October 27, 2022, at Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome, following an extended illness.
Born April 14, 1937 in Durango, CO, she was a daughter of the late Della Lucero and Benjamin Atencio. She had lived many years in Blackshear before moving to Rome in 2020 and had been a longtime housewife and faithful pastor’s wife. She was a member of The Rock in Rome.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, the Rev. William Harvey Herrin; her son, Timmy Herrin; a granddaughter, Becky Wright; two sons-in-law, Randy Lowry and David Maxwell and her brothers and sister, Gilbert J. Atencio, Manuel “Mel” Lucero, Alfred Lucero and Mary (Cande) Lucero.
Survivors include her three daughters, Tina Bridges (husband the Rev. Greg), Rome, Kim Maxwell, Blackshear, and Pam Lowry, Rome; a daughter-in-law, Angie Herrin, Blackshear; six grandchildren, Ben Bridges (wife Chelsie), Rome, Racheal Ledesma and Jerry Maxwell, both of Blackshear, David Maxwell Jr. (wife Rozanna) of Tennessee, Harley Herrin (wife Megan), Blackshear and Haeley Sharpe (husband Kevin), Moultrie; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Winton “Pogie” Herrin (wife Linda) and Lavone Herrin, both of Blackshear and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the New Hope Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Wayne County.
