Janice Darlene Gill Spivey

Janice Darlene Gill Spivey, 69, of Blackshear, passed away Monday evening, April 29, 2024, at her residence.

Born in Fernandina Beach, Florida October 24, 1954, she had lived in Pierce County most of her life. She was a familiar and friendly face at the United Market, from which she retired after many years. She loved to cook and loved to collect and share recipes with others. She loved working in her garden, but most importantly, she loved her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Living River Church of God.   

She was a daughter of the late Elbert Leroy and Eloise Kirkland Gill. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Lee Spivey; two brothers, Larry Gill and Carroll “Curly” Gill; a grandson, Matthew Spivey and a brother-in-law, James “JL” Spivey.

Survivors include two sons, Roderick Spivey (Annette) and Travis (Megan) Spivey, all of Blackshear; two sisters, Shirley Ca’Tron and Linda Spivey, both of Blackshear; a brother, Jerry (Pam) Gill, Fernandina Beach, FL; nine grandchildren, Luke, Melanie, Hiley, Jordan, Nicholas, Aliyah, Nathan, Trinity and Harmony; three great-grandchildren, Brentley, Braylynn and Blaklen and several other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 2, from the Living River Church of God with Pastor R.B. Gaskins officiating.

Interment will be in the Enon Cemetery.
