Thomas Grady Haddock, 76, of Blackshear, passed away late Wednesday afternoon, April 3, 2024, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross.
Born in Ellerbe, NC February 5, 1948, he had lived in Darien prior to moving to Pierce County in 1996. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years before going to work for Lockheed-Martin and working in Vietnam as a civilian. He would go on to re-enlist in the Navy and serve several more years. He went into trucking having worked for Anderson Trucking as well as Boatright Trucking for which he was still currently employed. He dearly loved his work family and was honored to have worked for them. He was a devoted grandfather to all of his grandchildren and so enjoyed spending time with them. A favorite pastime for him was taking the family to the mountains to go camping and fishing. What he lacked in his own childhood he made up for with his children and grandchildren. “They filled his life with love and happiness and who could ask for anything more?”, said his family. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
He was a son of the late Samuel Dewitt Haddock and Audley Mildred Smith Gifford. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Harry Gifford; his wife, Glenda Diane Thornton Haddock; a granddaughter, Hannah Comdeco and three brothers, Samuel Dewitt “Sammy” Haddock Jr., Larry Haddock and Kenneth Smith.
