Charles Bob Jernigan Sr., 79, of Patterson, passed away Friday morning, April 12, 2024, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Born September 5, 1944, in Blackshear, he was a son of the late Mary Jernigan Scott. He grew up in Pierce County and moved to Punta Gorda, FL in 1969 where he was a longtime self-employed mason. He returned to Patterson in 1995.
He was a former member of the Punta Gorda Masonic Lodge #115.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, George Jernigan; his grandparents who raised him, George and Susie Lucas and a sister, Laura Jernigan.
Survivors include four children, Charles B. Jernigan Jr. (wife Eletia), Patterson, Tammie Jernigan Stroman, Punta Gorda, FL, Sheldon Jernigan (wife Tonia), Lehigh Acres, FL, and Alicia Schwandt (husband Corey) of Washington; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; mothers of his children, Lula Jernigan, Patterson and Hyacinth Jernigan, Port Charlotte, FL; three siblings, Johnny Jernigan, Mae Baity and Linda Morales, all of Philadelphia; special friends, Johnny and Haddie Platt, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Eula Pratt, Chicago, IL, and Doris Teasley, N. Augusta, S.C. and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
