Janice Maxine Lloyd Hendrix, 81, of Blackshear, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 16, 2024, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross, following an extended illness.
Born May 25, 1942, in Waycross, she was one of 13 children of the late Madison Henry and Nora Louise Popham Lloyd. Having grown up in Waycross, she graduated from Ware County High School in 1961. She had lived in Texas, Illinois and Conyers before moving to Pierce County in 2004. Throughout her life, she had worked at Spatola Shoe Factory and in the medical field for several doctor’s offices for 20 years but retired from Wal-Mart as a demonstration manager.
She was a member of Hacklebarney Baptist Church and had attended the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Frances Rhodenberry, Dorothy Dekle, Lucille Petty, Marion Music, Susan Hendrix and Sandra Henderson and four brothers, Vernon Lloyd, David Lloyd, Madison Lloyd Jr. and Ray Lloyd, Sr.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Dean Hershel Hendrix Jr., Blackshear; daughter and son-in-law, Heather Hendrix and Gene White, Eatonton; twograndchildren, Brandon White (wife Abby), Statham and Madi Smith (husband Kody), Athens; two great- grandchildren, Levi White and Lily Smith; two sisters, JoAnn McQuaig and Pansy Cox (Leland), both of Waycross; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dot and Donald Trull, Blackshear and Franklin and Pam Hendrix, Dry Branch and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday, April 19, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 19, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Kettle Creek Cemetery.
