Steven DeWayne “Steve” Pearson, 64, of Blackshear, passed away early Monday morning, August 5, 2024, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross.
Born in Hollywood, FL June 5, 1960, he had lived in Pierce County most of his life. He was a 1978 graduate of Blackshear High School. Over the years, he had worked for General Box, Wal-Mart Distribution and Swisher. He received his CDL’s and worked as a truck driver for several years, retiring when he turned 62. Not one to just sit idly by, he started his own lawn care business, Legendary Lawn Service, which he was still operating at the time of his passing. He loved his clients and was grateful for them and their friendship. He never passed up an opportunity to help someone in need or lend a hand. He adored his wife, daughters, and granddaughter and was his girls’, “Big Daddy” and his granddaughter’s, “Big Pa”. He loved to fish, was an avid grill master and an excellent cook. He was just an all-around good guy with a big heart. He was of the Christian faith.
He was a son of the late Lowell Jr. and Eula Dell “Tootsie’ Dixon Pearson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Leroy “Jimmy” Pearson.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Michelene Raulerson Pearson, Blackshear; two daughters, Lindsay (Matt) Davis, Alpharetta and Bethany Pearson (fiancé, J. T. Conrad), Savannah; his sister, Karen (Duley) Carter, Alma; his granddaughter, Layken Blaire Davis and her sister who he was so excited to get to meet August 15, Saylor Davis; his mother-in-law, Maria Johns (James) Cook, Blackshear; his father-in-law, Wade (Ann) Raulerson, Blackshear; his brother-in-law, Steven (Lucrecia) Raulerson, Blackshear; nieces and nephews, J. P. Pearson, Lee (Steven) Dusterdieck, Wesley (Earnestine) Mattox, Blake Raulerson, AnnaMarie (Ryan) Terlep and Jesse (Karsyn) Pearson; his daughter’s childhood friends who he treated as his own, Krystal Thornton, Orlando, FL and Miranda and Daniel Bowen, Alma and numerous other relatives and friends.
