Silas Lloyd Groover

Silas Lloyd Groover, 77, of Waycross, passed away Monday, August 12, 2024, at Memorial Satilla Health.

Born in Baxley  March 29, 1947, he had lived in South Carolina for many years before moving to Pierce County in 2016. He had recently moved to Waycross. He was a U.S. Army veteran.  He was a retired truck driver, having driven all over the country throughout his career.  In his spare time, he loved to go fishing.

He was a son of the late John Henry and Rosie Gertrude Griffis.  He was also preceded in death by three sisters, JoAnn Jones, Elwanda Melton and Velma Sosa and both of his brothers, John McKee Groover and Wilbert Sloan.

Survivors include his son, Silas Lloyd Groover II, Waycross; his daughter, Dollie Rouse, Blackshear; two sisters, Teresa Emmons, Blackshear and Sue Berry of Alabama and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

As per his wishes, he was buried at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville. As he requested, there will be no public service.
