Clem Dexter Sapp

Clem Dexter Sapp, 67, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024, at his residence.

Born in Blackshear, December 24, 1956, he lived in Holly Hill, FL prior to returning to Pierce County twenty years ago. He was a 1975 graduate of Patterson High School where he had excelled in sports, especially football and was a member of the undefeated 1973 PHS football team. He had worked for Insituform Technologies in Jacksonville for over 25 years prior to working for Southeast Pipe as well as other underground pipeline companies. He loved all sports including football, softball and NASCAR, where he was a Bill Elliott fan. He also enjoyed anything outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  

He was a son of the late Parnell and Betty Lou Dixon Sapp. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Linda Faye Watkins; a sister-in-law, Susie Sapp and a brother-in-law, Eddie Teston.

Survivors include his daughter, Kathy Sapp, Patterson; his son, Little Dexter Sapp (Leann Sauls), Blackshear; his step-daughter, Ambi (Wally) Bess, Waycross; six sisters, Wanda (Shelton) Rigdon, Bristol, Carol (Donnie) Watkins, Mershon, and Bonnie (Bud) Thornton, Anita Teston, May (Ray) Douberly and JoAnna (Timmy) White all of Patterson; three brothers, Larry Sapp, Patterson, Bobby (Margaret) Sapp, Richmond Hill and W.T. (Susan) Sapp, Blackshear; five grandchildren, Katy Rose Contreras, Lucas Sapp, Jorah Maddex Sapp, Amiyah Bess and Rylan Bess and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 3-4 p.m. Friday, June 21, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, June 21, from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Derwin Griffin officiating.

Interment will be in the Offerman Cemetery.

The family kindly requests members of the 1973 Patterson High School Football team to serve as honorary pallbearers. Please meet at the funeral home by 3:30 p.m. Friday and feel free to wear your Patterson Eagles jersey or t-shirt.
