Holly Rebecca Thornton

Holly Rebecca Thornton, 52, of Blackshear, passed away Friday, June 14, 2024, at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville, FL, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born in Waycross April 27, 1972, she had lived in Pierce County all her life. She was a 1990 graduate of Pierce County High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. She worked in security for FLETC in Brunswick prior to becoming disabled. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved going to the beach, sea turtles and just nature in general.  She was a happy and caring person who would do anything for someone in need.  She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.  

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Leroy and Ruby Dixon, her paternal grandparents, D.L. and Juanita Thornton; aunts and uncles, Dorothy McKinnon, Lucy Dixon, Bud Dixon and Bobby (Pasty) Dixon; and a cousin, Lindee Dixon.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Savannah and Lee Manning, Blackshear; her parents, Hardy and Dale Dixon Thornton, Blackshear; her brother, Doug Thornton, Statesboro; two grandchildren, Marlee Manning and Easton Manning; three nephews, Uriah, Noah and Jackson Thornton; aunts and uncles, Phyllis (Jack) Chandler, Houston, TX, Penny Arblaster, Brunswick, Randall (Sally) Thornton, Roswell and Morris Thornton, Blackshear; cousins, Jeff (Lisa) Chandler, Tony Chandler, Justin (Kristin) Chandler, Leslie Tootle, Stephanie (Matt) Lott, Robert (Tammy) Dixon, and Teke (Michelle) Dixon and several other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, at the funeral home.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Teke Dixon and the Rev. Adam Walker officiating.

Memorialization will be by cremation.
