Barry Eugene Stephens, 67, of Waycross, passed away early Monday morning, June 10, 2024, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross.
Born in Cordele August 19, 1956, he had lived in Waycross since the 1980s. He served in the U.S. Air Force for seven years. Following his military service, he went to work in food sales having worked for Merita, Keebler, Cisco and finally Seabreeze from which he would retire. He was an amazing salesman and had the distinction of being not only in the Million Dollar Club but also in the Two Million Dollar Club for which they had to create just for him. He loved to fish, hunt, play golf, watch old movies — especially Westerns, play Solitaire on his phone and enjoy a nice, cold Coke® in a glass bottle. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was a son of the late William Hardy Stephens Sr. and Leslie Kennedy Nadrich. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Donna Sue Wilson Stephens.
Survivors include two daughters, Chelsea (Justin) Michtak, Blackshear and Stephanie (James) Brown, Cordele; a son, Barry E. Stephens Jr., Cordele; his brother, W. Hardy (Christy) Stephens Jr., Crestview, FL; his sister-in-law, Johnny (Teresa) Ogle, Waycross; 10 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-11:30 a.m. Friday, June 21.
Interment will be in the Ben James Cemetery.
