Charlie Lonnie Strickland, 68, of Blackshear, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 2, 2024, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross from injuries he received in an automobile accident.
Born in Blackshear July 12, 1955, he had lived in Pierce County all his life. He worked as a motorcycle mechanic at 5 Points in Blackshear in the 1970s prior to going to work as a boilermaker. He went on to retire in 2010 from Alloy Cladding in Jupiter, FL. He loved to go fishing and enjoyed having fish fries for family and friends. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, farming, and watching westerns. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was a son of the late James A. and Josephine Houston Strickland. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Smith; a grandson, Zachary Smith and two brothers, Foy Strickland and Noah Strickland.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Diane Sims Strickland, Blackshear; his daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Joe Herndon, Blackshear; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Kevin and Angela Guy Strickland of Blackshear and Obediah and Lizzie Strickland, all of Blackshear and Wesley Britton, Patterson; his sister and brother-in-law, Martha Gail and Lee Scurry, Blackshear; his brother and sister-in-law, Jaurez and Vonice Strickland, Patterson; a sister-in-law, Earline Strickland, Blackshear; seven grandchildren, Hailey Merritt (Randy), Jacob (Meagan) Selph, Pierce Naas, Ozzy Strickland, Thomas Guy, Kyle Smith and Connor Britton; two great-grandchildren, Kim berlyn Merritt and Khalleigh Merritt and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 5, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 6, from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will be in the Shiloh Cemetery.
