Lucille Earnestine Tuten Dowling Parham

Lucille Earnestine Tuten Dowling Parham, 99, of Blackshear, passed away Saturday morning, July 27, 2024, at Harborview Pierce County Nursing Home.

Born in Blackshear July 11, 1925, she had lived in Indiana for many years. While living in Indiana, she worked for Western Electric, now AT&T, before retiring in 1985, as well as bookkeeping for Dowling Construction Company. She loved to travel, visiting many of the states, including Hawaii, as well as traveling abroad to England. In her spare time, she enjoyed putting together puzzles, playing board games and card games. Her thriftiness earned her the reputation of being able to “turn a nickel into a dollar.”  In 2002, she moved back to Pierce County to be closer to her daughter and family.  She was of the Christian faith.

She was a daughter of the late Earnest Lawton and Azielee Henderson Tuten. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Loran A. Dowling; her second husband, Wilburn Henry Parham; two sisters, Louise Kilpatrick and Margarete Tuten; five brothers, Paul, Loran, Lawton, Leon, and Lonnie Tuten; a son-in-law, Jerry Cason and a daughter-in-law, Debra Dowling.

Survivors include her daughter, Vicki L. Cason (Vic Walters), Nashville; her son, Loran E. Dowling (Karen Jones), Rushville, IN; six grandchildren, Rhonda (Wayne) Clark, Joe Cason, Loran E. (Jenny) Dowling Jr., Phillip M. (Laura) Dowling, Ryan C. (Amber) Dowling and Danielle Dowling; eight great-grandchildren, Jessica Puffenbarger, Cassie O’Neal, Riley and Reece Dowling, Aubry and Finley Dowling, Alex Reynolds and Austin Dubose; five great-great-grandchildren, Ava, Jace and Gabe Puffenbarger and Abigail and Wrenley O’Neal and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at the funeral home.

Funeral services  will be held Tuesday, July 30, from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Watson officiating.

Interment will be in the Shiloh Cemetery.
