Shirley Ann Fergerson Boatright Cyphers

Shirley Ann Fergerson Boatright Cyphers, 88, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 21, 2023, at her son’s home, with hospice.

She was a resident of Blackshear and a member of First Baptist Church of Blackshear. She was born in Springfield, Missouri June 12, 1935. She was a 1952 graduate of Springfield High School, where she played the viola in the orchestra. She married Leon L. Boatright and was blessed with four children. She lived in Wichita, Kansas, Warner Robins and Waycross, before coming to Blackshear. She volunteered for senior citizens center, was the president of the Civilian Wives Club and worked at Spiegal in sales. She was a homemaker for most of her married life. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards with friends, reading, growing flowers and singing in the church choir and city choir in Warner Robins. She lived at The White House Independent Care, where she would sing, pray and minister with love to others.

She was the daughter of the late Earl Sr. and Elsie Fergerson who preceded her in death. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Fern and her brothers, Don, Kenneth and Earl Jr. Fergerson. She was also preceded in death by the love of her life, Leon L. Boatright and sons, Leon Jr., Jeffrey Boatright and George Cyphers.

Survivors include her sisters, Darlene Chaffin and Earlene Lofftus of Missouri; daughter, LuAnne (Bill) Barnett, Salem, Indiana; son, Steven (Donna) Boatright, Blackshear; grandchildren, Ryan (Katrina) Bussone and Heather Bussone, both of Salem, Indiana, Margaret (Holden) West, Pisgah Forest, North Carolina and Stephen (Dilcia) Boatright, Waycross and nine great-grandchildren, Alexis, Owen, Dawson, Bentley, Daylon, Ryker, Cyrus, Gian and Riley.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, from the Magnolia Park Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest.
