Nancy Eloise Bunch Sapp

Nancy Eloise Bunch Sapp, 83, of Blackshear, passed away Friday evening, December 22, 2023, at her residence.

Born in Homerville April 4, 1940, she lived in Florida for many years before moving to Pierce County in 1984. She had worked for Southern Bell as a telephone operator prior to becoming a homemaker. It was during this time that she began helping her husband with his business, Sapp’s Heating and Air. She would go on to retire from Blackshear Elementary where she had worked in the lunchroom for many years. She loved to read and do crossword puzzles. She enjoyed sewing and was an excellent cook. She also loved to laugh and just enjoy life.  She was a devoted member of Southgate Baptist Church where she was in the Senior Adult Sunday school class and sang in the adult choir. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as her church and her church family.

She was a daughter of the late James Cummie Sr. and Mamie Jo Prescott Bunch. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lawton Sapp and all five of her brothers, J.C. Bunch Jr., Joseph Bunch, Foster Bunch, Willard Bunch and Roger Bunch Sr.

Survivors include her three daughters, Karen (Kenny) Taylor, Taylors, SC, Susan (David) Justice and Renea Taylor, all of Blackshear; her son, David (Evelyn) Sapp, Waycross; her sister, Linda Jeen (John Wayne) Bennett, Waycross; a sister-in-law, Sarah Bunch, Waycross; six grandchildren, Keleah, Kateah, Robert, Tricia, Summer and Leigha; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, from the South Gate Baptist Church with Pastor Edward Colley and Pastor Vance Colley officiating.

Interment will be in the St. Johns Cemetery.

The family kindly requests members of the Senior Adult Sunday school class to serve as honorary pallbearers. They are asked to please meet at the church by 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The family would like to say a special thank you to her caregivers, Joan Aspinwall and Evelyn Sapp, for all the love and care shown to her during her illness.
