Ian Charles Brooks, 58, of Blackshear, passed away late Sunday night, February 5, 2023, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross, following a short illness.
Born July 6, 1964, in Saranac Lake, NY, he was a son of the late Jim Golden and Elizabeth Scott Brooks. He grew up in Albuquerque, NM and then joined the United States Air Force in which he served as a K-9 handler. He lived in various places during his military career before settling in Pierce County in the late 1990s.
He enjoyed being a jokester, spending time with his family, and dressing as one of “Santa’s Helpers” during the Christmas season. He also was a faithful volunteer with Allmon’s All About Animals and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Donald Brooks.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Brooks, Blackshear; two sons, Bobby Lewis and Christopher Lewis (wife Marcy), both of Blackshear; seven grandchildren, Hope Crews, Waycross, Klystette Lovell, Blackshear, Jacob Bennett, Waycross, Wednesday Lewis, Natalie Lewis, and Rebecca Lewis, all of New Orleans, LA, and Christian Cook, Blackshear; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jym Golden and Michael Norton (wife Mona Lisa), both of Houston, TX and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at the funeral home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home with the Rev. Randall Gunter officiating.
