Dan Bennett Jr. has been named as the new attorney for the Pierce County Board of Education.
Bennett was hired as the new school board attorney at the Monday, Feb. 6 regular meeting.
He succeeds long-time attorney C. Deen Strickland, who stepped down in January following 38 years of service.
Bennett currently serves as State Court Judge for Pierce County, a post he was elected to in 2014. Prior to that, he served 16 years as the state court solicitor.
A 1987 graduate of Pierce County High School, he earned a law degree from the University of Georgia in 1994. Bennett is also a private practice attorney.
Bennett is married to the former Kristi Tyre, and they have three sons, Daniel and twins, Matthew and Luke. The Bennetts are active at First Baptist Church of Blackshear.
