Eula Dell “Tootsie” Dixon Pearson, 83, of Pierce County, passed away Tuesday morning, February 21, 2023, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross.
Born in Blackshear August 17, 1939, she had lived in Pierce County most of her life. She was a graduate of Blackshear High School where she had played basketball as well sang in the Glee Club. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working in her yard tending to her flowers. She loved to cook for her family and friends especially on holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.
She was a daughter of the late James Franklin and Sallie Roberson Dixon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Pearson Jr.; a son, James Leroy “Jimmy” Pearson Jr.; all three of her sisters, Ilean Baxter, Winlen Walker and Deasy Mattox and three of her brothers, Darthell Dixon, Ronnie Dixon and Bronzal Dixon.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen Mattox Carter, husband Duley, Uvalda; her son, Steven Pearson, wife Michelene, Blackshear; her brother, Edward “Shorty” (Bea) Dixon, Thomasville; six grandchildren, J.P. Pearson, Lindsay (Matt) Davis, Lee (Steven) Dusterdieck, Bethany Pearson (J.T. Conrad), Wesley (Earnestine) Mattox and Jesse Pearson (fiancé, Karsyn Rowell); six great-grandchildren, Olivia Grace Dusterdieck, Olivia Kole Davis, Sterling Dusterdieck, Layken Davis, Jeffrey Pearson and James Pearson and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, from the Beulah Baptist Church with the Rev. Matt Tuttle officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Steven Dusterdieck, Jesse Pearson, Joey Walker, Michael Walker, Wesley Mattox and Chase Peacock.
