Carroll Edward “Curly” Gill Sr., 72, of Fernandina Beach, FL, passed away Saturday evening, February 18, 2023, at the residence of his sister, Linda Spivey.
Born in Fernandina Beach, FL July 18, 1950, he had lived in Fernandina most of his life. He had been a supervisor at the Amelia Island Plantation for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and anytime he was fishing he was fishing for “Moe”. He loved all sports and was known for cutting up with people and joking around. He dearly loved his family and appreciated all they did for him especially in his final days. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was a son of the late Elbert Leroy and Eloise Kirkland Gill. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Wayne Gill and a brother-in-law, James “J.L.” Spivey.
Survivors include his children, Kim (Bill) Jenson, Fernandina Beach, Charitie (Scott) Allen, Waycross, Crystal Gill and Carrie Gill, both of Fernandina Beach, Samantha Spivey, Blackshear, Carroll Edward “Ed” Gill Jr., Waycross, Joseph (Brooke) Spivey, Blackshear and Bubba (Chelsea) Spivey, Waycross; three sisters, Shirley CaTron, Linda Spivey and Janice Spivey, all of Blackshear; a brother, Jerry (Pam) Gill, Fernandina Beach; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will take place from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the Enon Cemetery.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, from the Enon Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Aldridge officiating.
