William Jessie Walker Sr.

William Jessie Walker Sr., 76, died Friday afternoon, February 24, 2023, at St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital in Savannah.

He was born September 3, 1946 in Ware County to the late Ephriam T. Walker Sr. and Cina Griffin Walker.  He graduated from Ware County High School, and he served in the United States Marines Corps during the Vietnam War.  He retired from BellSouth as a service technician, and he always enjoyed volunteering for the VA.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Vida Wilkinson, Louise Baxter, J. D. Walker, Harold Walker, Carl Walker, Para Moon and Bobby Walker.

Survivors include three children, William Jessie “Billy” Walker Jr. (Rhonda), Bainbridge, Sonja Jennings (Jamie), Orange Park, FL, and Dana Carter (Ronnie), Waycross; seven grandchildren, William Jessie “Trey” Walker III, Mathew Pierce Walker, Mary Ansley Walker, Baylee Jennings, Rylee Jennings, Gavin Carter and Grayson Carter; three siblings, Jackie Walker (Donna), Waycross, Patsy Bunch (Jack), St. Augustine, FL and Janice Bryant (Loren), Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 27, from the Music Funeral Home Chapel.  

Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Ware County.
