Former juvenile court judge, Joyner, dies at 56

David Joyner, former juvenile court judge and local attorney, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 17, in Gwinnett County. He was 56.

Joyner was a native of Blackshear, graduated from Pierce County High School, attended the University of Georgia and graduated from Georgia State University with a law degree.

Joyner began his law practice with an office on Main Street in Blackshear next door to the Presbyterian Church. He served as juvenile court judge during that time.

He later relocated to metro Atlanta and had been an attorney for 31 years.

In addition to his law practice, he was known for his dedication to his family.

A memorial service will be held in his honor at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at The Venue at Friendship Springs in Flowery Branch.
