Sara Ashton Boatright Denison

Sara Ashton Boatright Denison, 34, of Patterson, passed away early Friday morning, February 10, 2023, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Waycross January 17, 1989, she had lived in Pierce County all her life. She was a 2007 graduate of Pierce County High School and had been a social worker at the Pierce County Department of Family and Children’s Services. She loved her farm animals which included llamas, ducks and chickens and especially loved her dog, Lulu. Going to the beach, riding in the boat, scalloping and fishing and going to the mountains always gave her great joy.  She dearly loved her family and friends and will be greatly missed by them all. She was a member of Martha Memorial Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Lynell Johnson Boatright.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph “Joey” A. Denison Jr., Patterson; her daughter, Annalyn Jade Carter, Patterson; her step-daughter, Maggie Denison, Evans; her step-son, Jad (Taylor) Denison, Alma; her father, Al Boatright, Bristol; her sister, Alanna (Jason) Cowart, Fitzgerald; her brother, Austin Boatright (Brittany Aspinwall), Blackshear; a special aunt, Nova Dean Johnson, Mershon; her nieces and nephews, Allie Anna Cowart, Aubrey Cowart and Blakley Oliver and Aulden Hyers Boatright – due in April and several other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor R. B. Gaskins and the Rev. Joe Thigpen officiating.

Interment will be in the Denison Family Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jay Boatright, Doug Boatright, Jad Denison, Richard Allen, Andy Thornton and Mitchell Boyett.

Members of the Pierce County High School Class of 2007 as well as employees of Pierce County Department of Family and Children’s Services are kindly requested to serve as honorary pallbearers. They are asked to please meet at the funeral home by 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.
