Ben Tuten of Bristol hit a pair of home run last week as the Georgia College and State University Bobcats began their season on the diamond.
Tuten, third baseman for the team, hit a 2-run homer to lead the Bobcats to a 4-2 win over Emmanuel College in their season opener last week.
It was the biggest swing of the game, plating both himself and catcher Trevor Knowles of Folkston on a two-run blast just a hair to the right side of center field. The shot doubled what was a 2-0 lead in the top of the eighth for the Bobcats.
Tuten finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs.
Over the weekend, Tuten provided the only offense as the Bobcats fell to the University of Tampa 2-1.
Both teams were scoreless until Tampa scored a run in the eighth.
Tuten answered for the Bobcats in the top of the ninth blasting a solo homerun down the left field line to tie the came at 1 apiece.
Tampa walked it off with a bases-loaded single through the left side.
The offensive effort was led by Tuten, going 2-for-5 with the solo blast and a single.
