Loreta McClellan Viruet

Loreta McClellan Viruet, 91, of Blackshear, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 14, 2023, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross, following an extended illness.

Born June 30, 1931, in Nahunta, she was a daughter of the late Demory Hillman and Vada Lee Mercer McClellan. She lived most of her life in Blackshear and Jacksonville, FL and retired from the City of Jacksonville having worked with the Paper Bindery.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David James Duncan IV; sister, Loutrell McBee and brother, Grafton McClellan.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Juan Viruet, Blackshear; five children, Demory Keith Duncan, Blackshear, Carola Faith Brown, Jacksonville, FL, Vada Jean Perkins (husband Bob) of Arizona, William Kenneth Duncan (wife Irene) of Colorado and Walter Richard Duncan, Blackshear; three step-children, Julia Irene Horne (husband Robert), Jacksonville, Juan Viruet Jr., Blackshear and Martha Laverne Stephens (husband Bobby), Jacksonville; 28 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a special niece and longtime friend, Diane Carter, Waycross and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Waycross.
