Pierce County School System employees will receive a retention and commitment bonus for the 2023-2024 school year.
The school board approved the bonuses at its regular meeting Monday night.
The bonuses will be funded by the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER). ESSER is a COVID relief package approved by the federal government.
All full time certified and classified employees will receive the bonuses. Part-time employees will receive a percentage of the bonus equal to their work load. Full-time certified employees will receive $2,000 and full-time classified employees will receive $1,000. The bonuses will be paid in August if they agree and commit to remain with the school system for the next school year.
