The temperatures were cold but that didn’t stop the Pierce County Middle School (PCMS) swimmers from bringing the heat as they traveled to Tifton for their final meet of the regular season on December 13.
Sam Chesser placed fifth in the 50yd Freestyle (29.27) and fifth in the 500yd Freestyle (7:50.35), the longest event offered.
Teagan Dixon finished third in the 200yd Iindividual Medley (IM) (3:01.25), another grueling event. She also took first in the 100yd Backstroke (1:19.89), setting a new personal best (PR) for the season.
Grayson Harris — the first sixth grader to tackle the 100yd Butterfly— fought hard for a fourth place finish (2:11.91).
Lyla Brooker (1:56.48) and Sophia Cochran (1:55.46) completed their first ever 100yd Backstroke, setting new personal bests.
Sophia Cochran added a second PR with her fastest 50yd Freestyle (39.45) of the season.
Avery Wicker finished the day with new PRs in both the 100yd Freestyle (1:38.98) and the 100yd Backstroke (1:52.37).
Carter Johns shaved eight seconds off his 100yd Backstroke (2:03.15), setting a new PR.
Donald Moser swam his fastest 50yd Freestyle of the season (34.77), Cooper Davis did his best work on both the 200yd Medley and Freestyle relays, and Uriah Thornton set a new personal best in his 100yd Free (2:02.29).
“Despite the conditions, these swimmers gave their all and put a HUGE exclamation mark on one heck of a season,” said Coach Jennifer Harris. “Well done ladies and gentlemen.”
