Deloris Turner Boatright, 84, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday morning, January 8, 2023, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross.
Born in Blackshear September 21, 1938, she had lived in Pierce County all her life. She had been the secretary at Turner Supply for many years before going to work for and retiring from the Pierce County Board of Education where she had worked in the lunchroom at Blackshear Elementary. She was very big on family and loved raising her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook and bake and so enjoyed traveling especially to the mountains. She was a member of Bridge Church where she had been very active in the Women of Ruth Group.
She was a daughter of the late Roscoe and Blanche Rosella Strickland Turner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. “Runt” Boatright; both of her sisters, Patsy Sherrod and Pearl Bailey and two brothers, Lamar Turner and Wayne Turner.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Stanley Stone, Blackshear; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Randy Boatright, Pierce County and Stevie and Susan Boatright, Bristol; a brother, Carlton (Jackie) Turner, Blackshear; a sister-in-law, Sylvia Turner, Blackshear; six grandchildren, Chaz Boatright, Chandler Boatright, Leve (Dara) Boatright, Brandon (Michele) Stone, Dustin (Kindol) Stone and Lori Beth Stone; seven great-grandchildren, Ava Kate “Ava”, Carter Leigh “Sister”, Chesli “Chez”, Karoline, Kennedy “Kenny”, Kady Rae “Puddy” and Shane “Shane the Mane” and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Interment will be in the Waters Cemetery.
The family kindly requests members of the Women of Ruth group to serve as honorary pallbearers. They are asked to please meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
