Bennett IV wins Back-To-Back Championship Games

Former Bear and current University of Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett IV lead the Bulldogs to an undefeated 15-0 season and second straight National Championship. The game was played on Monday, January 9 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA and saw the Bulldogs defeat Texas Christian University (TCU) 65-7.

Bennett IV threw for 304 yards with four touchdown passes, added two rushing touchdowns and was named the offensive most valuable player (MVP) of the Championship game.

During the game Bennett IV passed former Bulldog Aaron Murray for the all time single season passing record, finishing the season with 3,823 passing yards.

During a post game interview Bennett IV was asked by ESPN’s Holly Rowe, “from a kid from Blackshear, GA what do you say to your hometown and all the people there who believed in you from the very beginning?” Stetson responded, “well it’s God’s country, it’s the greatest place on earth and it made me who I was today. Blackshear and Nahunta, love those people. The Herons and the Bears, made me who I was and I can’t wait get back there.”
