Glenda Marlene Davis Brooker, 72, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, formerly of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday morning, August 31, 2022, at Sandpiper Rehabilitation & Nursing Facility.
Born in Waycross December 28, 1949, she had lived in Pierce County all her life until moving to Mt. Pleasant, SC four years ago. She was a 1967 graduate of Blackshear High School where she had been a Blackshear Tiger cheerleader. She then attended Ware Technical School where she earned an associate degree. She worked for Dr. John Carden, DDS, and Farm Credit Bureau prior to being employed by the State of Georgia as a clerk at the Southeast Georgia Rehabilitation Facility. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed going dancing with friends “back in the day.” She liked doing crossword puzzles, reading The Blackshear Times every week and cheering for the Georgia Bulldogs. A farmer’s daughter, she always looked forward to family gatherings when it was time to harvest the crops and relished in the love, laughter, and chaos that comes with being part of a big family. She was a loyal and supportive friend to many and her kind heart, bright smile, and gentle spirit will be greatly missed. Most of all, she was a devoted mother to her daughter and proud grandmother (MeMe) to her three grandsons, whom she loved very much. She was a member of First Baptist Church – Blackshear.
She was the first-born child of the late Dewey Aldeen and Annie Jo Corbitt Davis.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mende and Erik Blumenau, Mt. Pleasant; three grandsons, Fisher, Ford and Watson Blumenau; three sisters, Patricia (Chip) Raynor, Valdosta and Denise (Richter) Rudisail and Gwen (Bill) Cason, all of Blackshear; a brother, Aldeen (Alane) Davis, Blackshear and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
