C. Deen Strickland will step down as school board attorney effective January 31.
Strickland submitted his resignation to School Board Chairman Duward Boatright in writing last Monday.
Strickland has served as board attorney for almost 38 years.
In his letter to the Boatright and members of the school board, Strickland said it has been his honor and pleasure to have served as Board of Education attorney.
“Over these many years, I have met many fine people, and had the opportunity to serve the best school district in Georgia,” he declared.
Strickland expressed his sincere appreciation to the board and wished the school district well saying he hoped “the District continues its excellence in every aspect.”
Strickland reportedly expressed that he was cutting back on his work load and would like to do some traveling.
School superintendent Dara Bennett said the board will begin looking for a new attorney right away, but there is no timetable on when one will be hired.
