Janice Smith, former businesswoman and interior decorator, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 21. She was 81.
Smith and her friend, Anne Dixon, initially worked in nursing, opened The Basket Barn on Georgia Highway 121 South. The “barn” later became Country Bumpkins and was moved to Main Street.
She would later join her husband’s business, Smith’s Pharmacy, by offering home interiors and gifts.
Additionally, Smith loved to cook, loved spending time with her family and traveling. She was a member of the Blackshear First United Methodist Church.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 23, from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
