Patterson beautician Eleanor Thornton passed away last Tuesday evening, May 23. Her beauty shop was an anchor of the city’s old downtown area for over five decades.
Thornton, 92, passed at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross.
A native and lifelong resident of Pierce County, Thornton was a 1949 graduate of Patterson High School.
Thornton became a beautician and worked for 50 years at her shop on Railroad Avenue in Patterson. She dearly loved her customers and they loved her in return.
In addition to her work, she loved to cook for her family and enjoyed shopping, camping, traveling to the North Georgia mountains and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading books about the Amish and listening to country and oldies music.
Funeral services were held at noon Friday, May 26, from the Bristol Baptist Church.
